well just got back from myrtle beach and it was my first time and i hate to say it i was not impressed with it. everything i herd the amount of bikes were way down and the bars were slow, every night when we were at the bars alll you herd evryone saying was they were going somewhere else because it was dead. the people we meet up with said it was slow this year and i was super suprized that we did have to wait in lines for anything anywhere. all the vendors had the same thing. the best part of the whole trip was kid rock concertnow that was awsome.
Same thing at Daytona, diesel fuel has gatten too high to put in the power stroke pickup to pull the trailer. Usually Hwy 17 is a traffic jam later in the week.
We got back last night. It's a 12 hour ride for us. Had a condo right on Garden City Beach so it was nice to hear the ocean every night and watch the beach. As far as the vendors go, it was the same thing everywhere. We enjoyed SBB the most. As far as food goes, we wasted $60.00 at a calabash style buffet in Surfside but loved the Inlet Crab House in Murrel's Inlet. There were five of us riding in our group. Several times, other groups of bikes would just jump in and break us up. Saw one girl at Broadway at the Beach with an enormous set of hooters. We had a great time.We also got to eat at Harold's Restaurant in Gaffney on the way over. Great food. We used back roads over and back.
I think that between the price of fuel and a lot of people have been a little slow at work or been laid off might have a bit to do with it also. A little more pick an choose. I like the smaller events any how.
Don't know where you went while you were here but I didn't think it was slow at all. I work on Ocean Blvd at 6th Ave S and didn't ride but a couple of days because of the traffic. Made the mistake of coming up 17 Bus. on the way home and it was insane. What normally is a 45 minute ride took 2 hrs. I rode more today after everyone left than I did all week.
