I dont know where all of these full face guys and guys are, but i do know from my own riding experience, i may have sen 1 or 2 riders with full faces on an HD over the last few years, half helmets and beenies are the norm. you go into an HD dealer and there are no full faces on display, yet you read this forum and you would swear that it is half and half. odd!!!
FF guys are more vocal onthis forumand also colder climates = more FF's. My local dealer has a lot of full face helmets and I see riders wearing them all the time. I see more half helmets than full for sure.Asifit matters.

I have a full face and a half and the half is mostly just uncomfortable.

All this after I just tossedmy chaps and burned my fingerless gloves. I just can't seem to land inside this elusive "norm".

I never have been in the in crowd(norm?) and have not tried. Even here on the forum I don't fit in except for the "old school" nuts(we know who we are). I wear what I need for a given ride and that's anything from polo shirt and slacks to chaps and leather jacket(brown suede w/fringe, my original from 1969), mostly Tshirt and jeans, leather work gloves if I plan to ride a while. I don't have a teddy bear but would not have any qualms about letting it ride bitch.
I was first a Beatnik, never really a Hippie(but definetly enjoyed the fruits of the era), been bikin since I was 12 and have owned 1 ea. Knuckle, Pan, Shovel and Evo.

I'm not old school but that's pretty much what I was saying with a grain of sarcasm mixed in. There's even a book on how to be "in" the motorcycle culture. I said I must be the motorcycle counterculture because I wear whatever the hell feels comfortablethat day and I don't care if anyone likes me or my bike.

As I age I am finding function is more important to me than form. I am even considering getting a more conventional riding jacket that does a better job of keeping the wind and elements off my body on cooler days... in place of the heavy, lots of zippers and winds holes, leather jacket.
I ride a motorcycle because I enjoy it and it doesn't make sense to me that I should wear a leather jacket and no helmet (if law allowed), or a half helmet, just because that is what everyone else does. I would rather wear the equipment/gear that allows me to enjoy the ride as much as possible..... and for some that means wearing the half or no helmet.
Took the words right out of my mouth.

We don't have a helmet law in Indiana and there are full faced helmets everywhere that you look. If it is cold or raining I wear my full faced helmet but I normally do not wear one. I wonder if that helmets are optional here is the reason that the dealerships usually do have more full faced helmets than half or three quarter.

Being from NJ I've always worn a helmet and wouldn't have it any other way. Having said that I was at Brians HD in PA last week and happened to take a bike for a test ride sans helmet. I have to say it was really cool. Like skinny dipping butmore dangerous unless you're skinny dippingaround snapping turtles.

If you think a halfie is good, get your *** down to a free state and go lidless... that'll RUIN you for helmets altogether! That's what happened to me!

Cheers!

I prefer my ff to the half most of the time. I live out in the boonies and just a quick trip to the store is about a 35 mile round trip. I have to clean off the face shield every night with all the damn bugs around here. It can get ugly sometimes without a windshield and a half helmet...
