My better half wants to get a armored jacket or some thing with some protection in it. She's a new rider and if it helps her to feel safer I say "what the heck". I don't know a dam thing about them, any suggestions on a good jacket that wont break the bank?
1 thing when you order.....check the reviews before purchase. A lot of them are sized small because they are supposed to fit "snug". If they fit too snug, they are uncomfortable. If possible, find a place that carries the jacket you want and try it on. I bought a Fieldsheer Hydro Tour jacket and love it. I normally wear an XL but had to order a 2XL from them and it is "snug". Good luck.
My wife and I both have Tourmaster textile jackets and like them alot. We each have a Tourmaster mesh jacket too for hot weather. They're fully armored and stand up well to daily use.
Joe Rocket has a very good line up of jackets for the ladies. My wife loves hers. (Mesh and winter weight). Very good value with good protection. Try Newenough.com , they have close outs and you can pick up one for less than $100. Our experence with them has been outstanding.
My preference is Olympia for mesh and Tourmaster for other but the price is way higher.
Draggin' Jeans and Jackets are a nice option. Lined with Kevlar. I have the Jeans and they are perfect. Removable armour at the knees. Others can see it's there if they know to look for it, butotherwise it's not noticeable
My wife likes the Joe Rocket jackets, she has a couple and they're very nice. I've got a tourmaster intake jacket, it has the quilted removeable liner as well as the removable rain liner. Great year round jacket and I got it for $119
