Default Why is it ..............

........... that a Heritage Softail Classic is not considered a touring bike?? Is it because the frame is different? And is it really that different? I can remember when that bike (looks anyway, with a 1200 cc motor) was nothing but a tourer.

Anyways, just wonder what you all thought. And if you would take a HSC cross-country.

I consider it a touring bike. Best of all worlds, actually. You can ride as long and hard on that bike as you can on a bagger, IMO.

I have ridden across country on a softail, a lowrider, a sportster, and even a Kawasaki KZ900.

The rider determines the length of the ride, not the bike.

Why isn't it called a fat boy with bags and spoke wheels? It's just terminology. Call it what you want.

I have only put about 400 miles on one, you could fool me it's not a tourer.
Add the Heritage 'trunk'to the bags and wimpshield, looks like a tourer to this Ol' Fart.
As posted already, what do we call the FLH's that the Heritage is 'copied' from, Sport bikes?

A. I think it's not in the "touring" bike family.
B. Cause H-D says so.
C. I also like the way it handles "Better" than the touring bike in turns.
Heck Yes I would and have taken it cross country. Well, half way across when I got out of the Nav.
Go for it. Have fun with it. Bring a digital camera.
