I recently got a 06 Sportster 883r and am comsidering the purchase of a lift for cleaning, maintenance, etc. Any thoughts on which one to buy? I've looked at a few & there seems to be a wide range of quality prices. Thanks!
Lots of choices out there. You paid big bucks for your scooter. Don't scrimp on a lift. Teachu2 likes his HF lift. I like my Sears yellow. Search around the site and ask on the Sporty group to see what they like.
I have one of the new Sears yellow aluminum lifts and it works on my Road King very well, extremely well built and very stable. got it on sale for around $160
Harbor Frieght Tools dont sell the greatest tools or equipment IMO. Of all the tools I have in my proffesional arsenal, there is only one thing from harbor frieght that hasnt broken and that would be my drive socket adapters. EVERYTHING else broke, some went fast others took a week or two.
Nothing that I have seen at that store holds ANY weight against quality tools and equipment. Im glad you guys with the Harbor Freight lifts are happy and I hope they last for a very long time. But I cant go back to that store and buy anything. At the minimum its Craftsman for me.
I have an FXD and the undercarraige is tricky for most jacks. I got one from J&S Jacks for about $350 last year and I swear by it. I had a problem with the hydraulic unit and they sent another one to me immediately - no questions. A great product with a great attitude.
I Went to Myrtle Beach and Picked up the Pit Bull Lift there. $419.00 no shipping no tax. had a friend that Trailered his bike down, carry it back for me. I love it I now clean places on my bike I could never get at before. I didnt get a table type lift cause of space and because I wanted my wheels to be able to rotate when cleaning. http://www.pitbullmotorcyclelifts.com/products.aspx
Of course that is justmy opinion. To each his own
