They've been coming up with the same kind of numbers in Florida ever since they repealed the helmet law down here. I wear one for two reasons, number one I was in a motocross accident as a teen and my helmet saved me, I still almost lost an eye and have no memory of the accident but I'm alive. And number two I'm the manager of my hospitals neurodiagnostic department and we do a lot of testing on people who have survived motorcycle accidents. Trust me when I say some of those folks do not fair too well.
However I still support the right to make your own decision about your safety.
Read this article: http://www.physorg.com/news132510465.html \\;it covers the same study. In the third paragraph, last sentence "They found the registration-adjusted head injury death rate increased by 32 percent, whereas the non-head injury death rate did not change." The study does adjust for number of "number of \\;registrations of motorcycles" I still don't agree with helmet laws, but numbers don't lie.
my helmet saved me recently and i will always wear one when i ride things would of been a lot worse had i not wore my helmet. i still think it should be a choice.
I watched the piece on the local news. SOS! Those who do not ride want to legislate for those who do.
Personally, since it is proven that the number 1 cause of death in ALL VEHICLE \\;accidents is head, neck, and spinal injury.... I think we should push for legislation to make all operators and passengers in ALL vehicles wear DOT appeoved headgear.
Anything short of this is discriminatory.

And see how far they get with that one.

They fail to mention that \\;Ben Roethlisberger \\;didn't have a Motorcycle class endorsement, apparently he was riding illegally and was involved in an accident. just because he's a celebrity
does not mean he's qualified to ride a bike without a helmet.
