I took the fairing off my Road King today and almost immediately turned around once I felt my helmet lifting up. Went and met some guys that were taking a ride in a direction I didn't care to go as it was hot and I was heading into the mountains. Had to stop back at the house and OL decided she wanted to ride so I wait for her to get ready. We go less than 2 miles when she bugged me to go back and get the fairing. If the OL ain't happy I will be miserable. Nuff said...
It comes down to personal preference. There's a good reason so many bikes have windshields, but just as good a reason why so many do not. If you enjoy the ride better with one, good for you and tell those that say you're wrong to F off. If you lie one, you're right. If you don't like one, you're right too, but no need to be a douche and impose your opinion on others. Life is too short to be a dick.
Wait what? Windshields aren't cool? Why in the hell doesn't someone tell me these things? Is there a list or a website a guy/gal can go to to keep up on what is and isn't cool? Does the list change? Who's in charge? When do they update it? Is it written in stone or can we lodge complaints? Who do we send them to? Can I email them or text? Is asking questions cool? Too many questions not cool? How do I find out? AAAUUUGGGGHHHH!
Are gloves cool? Are tan lines cool? I need to know ASAP. People are saying I must play a lot of golf. Is that cool? Is golf cool? Should I lie and say yes, I play a lot of golf? Is lying cool? AAUUUGGGGGHHHHH!!
I bought the small Harley sport shield for the Sportster, it is just enough to break the wind and deflect some of the bug's. I don't like the big clear shields or the batwing fairing's.

I bought my bike with the detachable windshield wrapped in a T-shirt. I had no plans to put it on. Then I took the first ride without a fullface and even with the cushion on the glasses my eyes watered so much I turned around and put the windshield on. I've never taken it off. It's just low enough so I look over it.
Seems like a lot of 1% clubs are riding baggers with windshields these days. I guess they're not cool.
