I have 12" tires on a Kendon trailer, and hauled my bike from So Cal to Austin Texas in the heat of summer with 8 year old tires and not one problem. But I do think I'll get new tires before I try it again.

Who goes 55 mph. I pull my trailers at traffic speed be it 70, 75, or even 80 mph. Good tires 14 or 15 inch depends on which trailer I am using. My motorcycle trailer is a 12 x 6 covered. Insulated with roof air and sway bar. I have a 12 inch tired trailer for my small puddle jumper boat. I am sure it would be sufficient for the highway but thats not what this boat and trailer&nbsp\\;were bought for. 12 inch tires c rated might be fine but its not what I prefer. My preference is bigger tires , higher weight load limits and less heat at speed.

12" C rated tires are fine.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; Even if you have 15" tires all trailer manufacturers state that the trailer is to be towed at 55 mph.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\;\\\\\\\\\\\\\\; That is to avoid liability if you crash.

This thumbnail is of the 4 X 8 Harbor freight trailer that I just finnished setting up to do a 2K run.
It has the 12 " by 5.30 tires.&nbsp\\;\\\\\\; You notice I carry two spares.

For hauling moderate loads around town I wouldn't hesitate to use that size wheel/tire.
&nbsp\\;
But for a larger trailer, or a heavier load, I would prefer 14"/15".
