Default Break from a LEO

I was on my way to a friends house from work the other day. I passed through an area where the speed limit went from 50 to 35 mph because of it being residentual, then to a 4 way stop. I was going about 55 and let off of the gas when I saw the 35 mph sign. Just my luck, state police coming the opposite direction. I made my right hand turn, and only had to go a few hundred yards more. I pulled into my friend's driveway, and sure enough, several seconds later, here he comes with lights blazing. He asked if I saw the speed limit change, I told him I did, I didn't get slowed down in time, and that I should have done better. He told me he had me going 60 in a 35 mph. The pucker factor was getting real bad about now. I told him I remembered 55 mph, and yes, I didn't get slowed down in time. He said that it was still 20 mph over. After chewing on my @ss for a minute, he let me go with a verbal warning, telling me to slow it down. I thanked him, and breathed a huge sigh of relief. My friend was in the basement of his house and never saw any of this.

I am sure some of you have stories of the last time you caught a break, or didn't.

Let's hope for this country's sake there's more than just some.&nbsp\\; LEOs, as with most professions, are a direct reflection of the communities around them.&nbsp\\; Same concerns, desires, problems etc.&nbsp\\; The vast majority want to serve their communities and live in peace with their families, friends&nbsp\\;and neighbors.&nbsp\\; Not flam'in, just think there may be more than some...

I've been very lucky with cops giving me a break.&nbsp\\; As long as you're not riding like an *** and endangering others, the majority of LEOs will give you a break.&nbsp\\; There are dicks in every profession but we tend to focus on the few that have made us mad rather than the thousands of good ones that help our society function.&nbsp\\;

&nbsp\\;
I find this hilarious.&nbsp\\; Everytime someone here on the forum&nbsp\\;gets pulled over and is NOT cited, Gosh, that's a great cop, a good guy, see, cops are human.
&nbsp\\;
Next time your lawyer/doctor/teacher doesn't do his job, see how well you like it.&nbsp\\;
&nbsp\\;
Same thing in college, the "easy" instructors were always the great ones.&nbsp\\; Heaven forbid you got one that actually wanted results from his/her students.
&nbsp\\;
Have&nbsp\\;a cop let a dui go, and have said dui run over your kids, see how much you think of him then.&nbsp\\;

there's a huge difference between letting a guy who didn't slow down as early as he should have, and the guy who's behind the wheel after drinking a 12 pack.

so i suppose that either:
1.&nbsp\\; you never go faster than the limit, or
2.&nbsp\\; the next time you get pulled over, you are going to insist that the cop give you a ticket, after all, you wouldn't want to keep him from doing his job.

Wow, talk about a chip! If I would have gotten a ticket, it would have been my own fault, no doubt. Now a DUI or DWI is a whole different ball of wax. If an officer lets someone off for that, he isn't doing his job. Now go relax and go for a ride. Just watch your speed!&nbsp\\;

Solitaree1, He did do his job, to issue a violation or not is discretionary based upon the circumstances.&nbsp\\; A warning under the circumstances was a valid option...a warning is not an option for a DUI/DWI (which&nbsp\\;is not discretionary).&nbsp\\; Just some clarity...

I've had more than my fair share of breaks, and since I've changed my 'ways' I can't recall getting pulled over when I wasn't doing anything wrong. I think the days of *** chewings for DUI's have pretty much passed and that's a good thing.&nbsp\\; LEO's have a job and if you're stupid or immature enough to give them attitude when stopped for for speeding or whatever....DUHH
