Did you guess Harley? Well, guess again! Number #1 on the list....SUZUKI. Harley placed 5th, behind all the top metric makes. Want more info? Goodle search, "lojack study, stolen motorcycles". So you might think twice before buying that Honda bike cover to discourage thieves when you travel.
Those metrics don't come with anytype of security features, plus and I'm not trying to stereotype here, but I'm guessing that a majority of bike theives are more interested in sport bikes than cruisers. \\;
They do come with steering locks but are a LOT lighter making them easier to pick up. \\; Any smart owner knows to lock his bike whether at home or in a public place. \\; \\;
Had a couple local gang members considering stealing mine, they thought twice when they saw Harley on the tank. \\; In Spanish, the one thug said to the other "Take this one?" \\; "no, said the other, I can only ride Honda", It was hard not to laugh out loud, giving away I understood them.

When I got my Fatboy, one of the salesmen was telling me there was no need to lock the forks or the ignition. Said that folks would look at it but absolutely would not touch it. I was thinking yeah, maybe a fellow biker but not some crackhead down the street. So I always lock mine and put a disk lock on one of the brake discs. But it's good to know that Harley is so far down the list. This is a good thing.
RE: Most "\\\\\\\\\\\\\\;popular bikes to steal????
That is good to hear, I wouldn't have guessed that. I have Lojack on my ride, plus a remote pager, I was thinking a Honda cover would deter theft, maybe I won't cover at all. \\;

They know if they try to steal a HD chances are they will get here asses handed to them. \\; Where as a metric rider will plead as long as they are not hurt the thief can take anything.

I agree , I am willing to kill someone over my Harley. I would just call my insurance company over a Honda or any other metric bike. Most of the people I run with watch their Harley's like a hawk. Who looks at Suzuki's?

Gixxers and CBRs weigh half of what some Harleys weigh. If you had about 20 seconds to get a bike in the back of a van with only one other helper, would you take the Gixxer or the Road King?
Assuming that most bike thieves steal to sell not to ride, stolen Harleys would not sell like stolen Gixxers, whole or parted out.
