My azz hurts!
I have a custom that I mounted large fringe bags on and found a \\;seat of a Softail Heritage Nostalga with the fringe on it..
It actually gave me several hundred more miles before the Numb Butt Syndrome set in..

most commonly, i get a pain right at the end of the tailbone. \\; i am thinking that this might happen regardless of any seat/cushion i use. \\; to get rid of this or at least put it off for longer, i take a break overy 90 minutes to two hours. \\; i also change position as much as possible. \\; like put one foot up on road peg, then the other foot, then both feet, etc. \\; sometimes just readjust one half inch to one side and then the other, kinda like putting more pressure on one side and then the other. \\; i also stretch my back from time to time by bending way forward, etc. \\; i find that it doesn't happen as much, if at all, when the ride has more stop signs and stop lights in it. \\; it usually only happens when i keep the bike at constant speed for hours. \\; this is kinda like a sore and tired muscle. \\; because it is a muscle thing, movement and stretching work well.
 \\;
occassionally i will get a tired butt muscle instead of lower back, but will do the same thing as mentioned above.
 \\;
occassionally i will be just a bit hot and therefor sweaty in which case just use powder and quick dry underwear. \\; i have those beads on my seat which allows air flow - the fur things also allow air flow.
 \\;
occassionally i will get a cramp in the butt or leg. \\; that is bad. \\; can't stop the bike because of the cramp pain. \\; so i have to work it out while riding. \\; i just work it while attemptint to pay close attention to the road. \\; not easy. \\; but i don't think this is what you are talking about.
 \\;
another thing that really helps me is correct posture. \\; also one of those waist belts. \\; they help you sit up correctly. \\; a lot of people have a tendancy to sit on their tail bone and not on their butt. \\; it might help to just move your butt back a bit to assure you are not on your tail bone. you should also feel some of your weight on the top backside of your thighs. \\; this is harder when riding but still kinda works.
 \\;
what to do really depends on the type of 'hurt' that is happening.

I don't know anyone who has used them, but the online reviews look promising. \\; They use your original seat, and just replace the insides. \\; Cheap too, \\;aftermarket touring seats are expen$sive. \\;
I did 1100 miles last weekend without much discomfort, but welcomed the fuel stops. \\; I hate the heal-toe shifter and removed the rear part, which lets me slide my size 12's way back on the boards and take a little weight off my achin azz. \\; Then I'll kick my heels out on the front edge of the floorboards for a while. \\; Movin them feet around REALLY HELPS. \\;
Another thing (looks nervously over shoulder), the long-leg type speedos make things more comfortable. \\; Cotton just digs into the skin the wrong way or something, pretty big difference after several hundred miles. \\;
