The 2009 Ultra Classics will be offered with the exact same engine they have now or \\;the water cooled \\;vrod engine. The frames have been redesigned to accommodate both. This is not a rumor or speculation on my part, it was leaked directly from an inside source at HD.
I won't believe it until I see it. No way the frame fits both engines...they aren't even close in size/geometry. They may offer a Vrod outfitted with bags but it will not be the Ultra. I think we might see oil coolers as standard equipment and they may have added some additional flow to the heads. Only 9 days....
Will it be the V-rod engine puched out and stroked to get more torque? It has over 100 hp but the torque figure is a little low for a bagger. I believe itll come with the 07, 08 engine that already meets 2010 epa standards.
Not to be a skeptic, but just rumours until we see the lineup on 7/22/08. \\; Even if they did offer a water cooled engine, there is no way I am buying the first year of ANY new engine from the MoCo. \\;
 \\;
This is coming from my experience with buying a 2007 Screaming Eagle Ultra Classic with the leaking head gaskets, cylinder liners that move, and a crank that has excessive runout, along with valve knocking in the rocker boxes due to not enough clearance. \\; No thanks.
 \\;
I'll let them work out the bugs for a year or so, if indeed it is true for this year. \\; We all know it is only a matter of time until it happens. \\; My guess would be 2010 when EPA restrictions tighten up.

That could be the reason they are coming out with it this year. Work out the bugs, so when they need to meet the EPA, it's got the bugs worked out, and ready to go.

Maybe just me, but I don't put a whole lot of faith in rumours or 2nd hand information.

Not saying the information isn't correct, but to me seeing is believing, and I'll just wait another week or so and find out the real story. \\;
