Proper RPM Range
1500 on my bagger and it is not lugging...any lower and it would be
Well, as an abolute, "BS" is rather strong. In the lower three gears, 1500 rpm won't hurt a thing. Lugging is also a function of how hard you're getting on the throttle. A "gentle" acceleration from 1500 to 2000 rpm in 4th or 5th is perfectly Ok. I've done it and the engine didn't protest in any way I could feel. I agree that 2000 rpms is a natural floor most of the time but if the rider is gentle enough, going below that a few hundred rpms isn't a big deal. Of course, if you're one of those who can't help rapping on it every time they need to accelerate then by all means, keep the revs up! \\;

I see in the owner's manual that it states "The shifting points shown in the tables are recommendations."
Guess, I'll go with the feel and just watch to keep it above 2,000 rpm. One thing I did learn is not to worry about running in the 3,000 rpm range which I thought was too high, just keep it below 5,500 rpm redline.
