I was thinking of my up and coming trip to Ontario this morning that I will be making next week from here in Alberta,
and a thought crossed my mind in regards to ,
what would I do if I got Bad gas in my tank along the way? I will be traveling some 3 thousand miles. with 20+ gas station stops, there is a chance I could get Bad Gas in the tank.
It happened to my friend last week when he was filling up his 96 sportster in Brandon Manitoba at the Esso on number 1 highway. It took the bike to local bike shop cycle boys choppers and they cleaned the carbs and test drove it but it started sputtering 50mph and didn't clear it's self for an hour after that.
Anyone have and tips for me incase I run into Bad Gas along the way?
I do plan on trying to stop at only Shell stations and filling up on premium as much as possible.
Man, don't worry about it. You could get "bad" gas anywhere, including your favorite gas station. If it bothers you that much, just plan your fill-ups within 50 miles of a dealership and only do it on days when they are open.
I certainly wouldn't worry about bad gas. I'd just have fun riding the bike. I just did a coast to coast run (over 7000 miles), then turned around and toured Calgary and the Canadin Rockies, (another 3600 miles), never once thought about bad gas and the bike ran flawlessly. Just enjoy the ride!
