Yep, I agree with others, unless you drafted a contract or at least verbally stated to her that it was a nonrefundable deposit... give it back, particularly with the mitigating additional circumstances you describe.
I would however warn her that deposits are generally nonrefundable and even if not, are a measure of "good faith," so to just call and cavalierly ask for \\;it back is somewhat rude and cheesy

I have it listed on Craigs list and one guy emailed me with an offer that was a little lower than the amount I was selling it to her. I told him it was sold. I'm gonna give her the money back either way. \\;
 \\;When she called I told her to give me a couple of days to think about what I could do since I had already put the money on my loan. I knew the whole time I would give her the money back from my savings, but I guess I needed to vent a little.
I am going to let her stew on the possibility of losing her money for a couple of day though. Nothing different than I would do to my own daughter who is about the same age.
