Hello Members,
May I ask a Stupid Question? My dream bike is a Harley, I want to purchase one real bad.I love the Road King Classic. Every time I talk to someone about buying a Harley, they are always saying negative things about Harleys. Such as, always in the shop being repaired, cost to much or you are only buying a name. Why don't you go and buy a metric bike. I am sure you guys have heard this before.
All of this negative speech confuses my thinking about making the purchase on a new Harley.
Can you guys, give me some insight on this issue. I am a little discourage.
Of course, these people who say things negative do not own a Harley.
Go rent one for a weekend and see for yourself. I have had metrics and they are not as much fun as my Lowrider. They are no more durable either. BTW, people said I was only buying a name when I bought my Porsche 944S back in the 80's. Usually because they can't afford one.
Paul: \\; Follow what YOU want to do. \\; H-Ds are not the largest selling big bike in the USA for nothing. \\; ALL mechanical things can have problems. \\; H-D doesnt have any more than any other. \\; Buy a well cared for used H-D and get acquainted with the bike, the company and the people that ride H-Ds. \\; Then decide if they all suit you for the long haul. \\; ............ \\; Big Cholla
If you're lookin' for objectivity on this forum, sorry but most of us are very biased. \\; My Harley has been the best bike I've owned - \\;Jap, German or American. \\; Go with your heart, it'll thank you
A long time ago, I also had metrics, \\;Although they were fun, \\;I have to agree that they were not as much fun as my harleys have been. I have heard it all and most of it is out of pure jealously. I would not hesitate to ride my harley anywhere and thet have been very reliable to me. It's more than just a motorcycle, a work of art, an American icon, etc. etc.

If you want a Harley and settle for a metric you will never be happy, I know a few that passed because of the price and went metric...they are still kicking themselves, not that there is anything wrong with a metric.
