I just recently picked up an enclosed trailer. I was at Home Depot and the 6x12's price was marked wrong and I got it for $1100.00. I love it. I like the fact that the bike is protected from the weather as well as those with less than honest intentions.

One thing to watch out for though is the condensation they hold. I opened my trailer one morning after a hot day/cool night and you could see it on the bike, even with the vent open. The easy fix was the huge silica packs that Harley ships with their bikes. The shops usually have tons of them and will most likely give them to you.

I hadn't even considered fuel mileage when I bought it. The price was right and it was what I was looking for.

I forgot to add that mine is landscape style with a nice ramp. The first thing I used it for was to go get a large load of bark for landscaping. That would have been difficult with enclosed. The loader just filled me right up.

I don't need the storage as I have a 1000 sq ft 3 car garage.

I too would be afraid of condensation if I stored in an enclosed trailer.

Again, it depends on your situation. $.02.

I have considered both. The open trailers I have looked at fold up and don't take up much room when not in use. Word of caution, with an open trailer DO NOT store a lot of your goods in the bags and tour pac (if you have one). This will change the center of gravity and tear the freaking trailer up at highway speeds as the it will become unstable.. (have seen it first hand)

If you are worried about your gas mileage, just leave the SUV at home and ride the bikes, other than that issue the enclosed trailer would provide better protection but with limited uses, where the open trailer would provide with the ease of loading, multipurpose, and you might even gain a few new friends that want to borrow it or have you move something for them, weigh your options and see what fits.
