I have 07 flstc and when im in 6th gear and rap on the throttle I have a bad ping like I got bad gas. I run 93 octane in my bike and it only has 3,300 miles on it what is the best fuel treament for bikes. please help.
Its probably your fork tins rattling. Next time it happens, take your left hand and grab the fork tin (metal behind the headlight) and squeeze it. Ill bet you that your pining stops.
What you are hearing is detonaton. Not a good thing to hear as it will destroy your engine. Caused by a too lean fuel mixture. The bike is set up very lean from the factory for EPA. A good fuel management system such as Power Commander III will solve your problem. PM me if you need additional info.

Im not sure he is actually pining Blues... if he is running 93 octane and hasnt done pipes or an air cleaner to his bike (which he didnt tell us weather or not he did) then Im going to have to say its something else ratteling. Even if he did change out the pipes and air cleaner, the fact still remains that he has a narrow band closed loop EFI system on his 07 which should compensate just enought to keep if from pining with a stage 1 set up. But we dont know what else he may have done.
The 07 runs lean with or without the stage 1. Whether it's stock or has pipes and an air cleaner it will ping even with 93 octane fuel. Fuel additives is not the answer. Use a fuel management system like the PC3 or Harleys unit like the SERT. Even then when it gets hot on a hot day it will still ping if it's lugged. Keep the RPMs up until you get a tune. Don't use 6th gear unless you're above 70 or so.

Yes you are right he does have narrow band closed loop and that is the problem. It is set up for a 14.7:1 air to fuel ratio and that is too lean for an air cooled engine. Something around 13.5 is much better. My 07 Glide pinged stock from the showroom floor. This has been a problem for 07 and 08 bikes and I am sure the 09's will also experience it.
