Default Motorcycle jack

On my lunch hour today I went to my local Sears store to look around at the tools and saw that the Craftsman Motorcycle/ATV Jack was on sell for $89.95, normally around $119.00, so I bought one. Got back to the office and pulled up some reviews on the product and got some mixed reviews, some good and some bad. Anybody got one of these jacks and what do you think about it.

Its not the aluminum one. While its still in the box I can exchange it for the aluminum jack for about $75.00 more.

Huge vote here for J&S. I bought mine about a year ago and it is great. I can swing the bikes all over the garage and it is stable as it can be without any straps or anything. Just this week, I was swapping out handlebars on the Springer and the wheels happen to be at the powdercoaters, so I just climbed up on the bike while it sat on the jack and adjusted the bars. I even had it running up there once I had everything back together.

Also, it is made in America and the customer service is great. About three weeks ago the bottle jack started leaking. I sent them an email asking if there was still any kind of warranty on the jack itself and the response I got was, "We'll send you a new one. Which address do you want to use?" No questions, no argument, nothing.

It is pricey, but well worth it. And no, I have no connection to the company other than being a very satisfied customer.

Another vote for J&S. I bought mine last year and have used it for oil changes, bolt tightening, cleaning, and winter storage. The higher the jack goes the more stable it is. No tie downs or any adapters are needed. The company is great and the product is well worth the money.

I got the Sears yellow jack...it gets it done for the basics!! Unless your building bikes for a living, it should do the job for you!!!

There have been many posts on jacks with lots of opinions. I think the important question is what are you going to do with it. I have seen 2 J&S jacks in use. Very nice product. Has the widest stance and is about the stablest. They are quite pricey. I don't like that they do not have a foot release to lower it unless they have upgraded them. If you plan on doing major-major work it would probably be a good choice. The sears aluminum is a nice peace also. It is sturdy but the bike will rock a bit more but you would have to really try to knock it off to loose it. I do not have much on the sears red. A friend has one and swears by it. Now I will probably get flamed for this but I have that cheep a$$ Harbor Freight yellow. I do not like the one cross bar because it was in the way of my oil drain pan but have since changed to a plastic coffee can. It is as stable as the sears aluminum and rolls quite nicely. The legs are not as long as the J&S so that may give some concern when rolling it around an catching a nut or washer on the floor. It is the cheapest but for general maintenance oil, tires, brakes, It is fine. I have done everything on mine except pulled the motor. You will probably be okay with the sears red, just learn how to use it, (center of bike) and you will be fine.

This is what I have, better than the sears, cheaper than the J&S but very very good.
