Drag pipes are great. Look bad, Nice and loud, Pure unadulterated HD sound. The secret to running drag pipes is using anti-reversion cones, or torque cones. Whatever you want to call em. drop a pair of these in the head pipes, get the bike tuned. It'll sound bad and run like a scalded ape.
Anti-reversion cones help, no doubt about that. A 5'16" bolt through the bottom of the pipe at the end is cheaper, does the same thing and keeps that LEO stick from going up the exhaust. Research exhaust system flow, tons of info out there ........ Still lose bottom end power though, too much flow for the amount air pushed unless you go to some serious big inches. They do sound awfully good, though, I run them on my shovel at the sacrifice of some botom end, then again, I'm not a racer, who cares?
I saw a dyno test were the put an eye bolt in the inside then you can turn it from cross ways to strait back and tune it. i got no problem if you want to run drag pipes just think its funny when they think doing mods is all gain and no loss. aw what a wonderful world that would be.
I am not a drag pipe fan. I don't like them. But if you want to run drag pipes --I don't care--each his own. One of the things I like about HD's is that the market is wide open for accessories and you can buy a anything you can dream of in exhaust. If you think it then someone probably makes it. Makes it interesting to see what other people like on their bikes.
