That's one of the reasons us California boys (and girls) split lanes.

I don't know about lasting longer down south or up north. We each have our own environmental nuances....**** those two words together hurt....but I will say that hot is hot no matter if you're on a Harley or a ricer. I rode a ricer for a long time and even though the heat was at your calves, it still rises and when it does forget about comfort. 87 here today with 89% humidity..its the humidity that kills. Texas at 90 is actually not too bad. Mississippi at 90....ughghghgghgh.

Actually you can get engine damage in cold weather from condensate,, motors put out H2O as they heat up,, so if you ride in the cold you must make sure the engine is always brought up to temp which will burn off the condensate otherwise you'll get water in the oil if you don't, such as a short trip to the store etc, because in real cold weather the HD motor sometimes won't get up to full operating temps.

We have lots of members who ride the hot heat, one factor is the type of oil you use that sometimes determines engine wear in high temps, also I run an oil cooler ( I know some don't like it) which I think helps along with a good fully synthetic oil in all three holes.

Just remember even though they are air cooled,, HD motors are built very strong, very simple, good maintenance is the key no matter what the temps.

Keep it maintained properly it will last either place. We have the heat in the south but no cold oil starvation on startup which has been proven to be the point where the most engine wear occures. So ride it, keep it maintained to perfection and don't worry, it will get you there and back for as long as you want.
