I was just reading the lengthy 'Your A Poser If...' thread and saw a couple of posts regarding people who dont stop for other bikers.
I have stopped on many occassions, to check on a fellow biker that has stopped on the side of the road. All so far have been taking a break or using a cell phone or something like that. They were all very appreciative and said thanks.
I have passed a 1-2 that actually looked like they needed assistance but the road I was on had no turn around (jersey wall or gorge) or the next off ramp to turn around was several miles away.
My question, do I find a way to turn around or hope that someone else stops to help? I try to stop when I can, and I like to think most would stop if I was on the side of the road, even if all was well.
I stopped the other day to help some guy who was pusing his bike on my way home, turns out he ran out of gas. By the time I turned around another one of my buddies had pulled his truck over so we loaded the bike on the back with no ramp! Yeah that was fun, good thing it was a smaller yamaha something. the ordeal did ruined one of my favorite pair of jeans from me holding up the rear end on my thigh. Oh well, I did a good deed that day.
