i have mentioned that my daughter bought an 06 sportster in Oct '06. i had bought her a leather jacket and also added led lights. we rode her bike to a class that we were both taking at the time.
she didn't ride it a lot (still has less than 600 miles).
she is getting transfered and is kinda tight on money. she is not sure if she can still afford it and has kinda asked me if i would buy it.
regardless, i kinda feel sedimental about the the bike and would like to keep it. it was something that we shared together. it is also the first major purchase she made on her own.
with your kids there is always all kinds of things going on and this case is no different. like i think that she might not be returning to our home town for quit a while if at all.
so i am overly sentimental, stupid, or understandingly want to keep the things that helped to create the memory.
If you are going to buy it off her just to stick in the garage I think that is a bit silly. If you are going to use it at all then it's a good thing to help her out.
I give her credit for asking you to buy the bike instead of just asking you for the cash. If I could afford it, I would buy the bike and hold on to it for a while. If you sell it later, you will still be getting most of your money back.
It sounds like you have already made your decision. Go ahead and buy it, then stick it in the garage until she's on her feet so she can buy it back from you.
Agree with slaps, if you're going to get some good use out of it, fine. If not, just take some pictures for the memories and let it go. Pictures take up less space in the garage.
Went through the same thing with my princess and her first car.
Motorcycle riding is not for everyone. Many people buy bikes and then later figure out they really dont like riding. If you are going to ride it go for it, but if a bike has no rider it is just a waste of money.

I've got two daughters and they way they've got me wrapped around their little fingers I'm surprised you're even asking.
I have 3 daughters and the wife......BUY THE BIKE BECAUSE YOU ARE GOING TO GIVE HER ALL YOUR MONEY ANYWAY....might as well enjoy it and let her ride it once in a while. Don't forget...when buying something from your daughter you have to pay full sticker price plus dealer prep, shipping, and any mods...you never know...she may venture home to ride with you every once in a while. Especially if you send her a plane ticket.
