Lady Riders
). We are currently bikeless until the house sells (anyday now), and then it's straight to the Dealer. We already have our bikes picked out, and can't wait to goo get them. Letting my wife get her endorsement was the best thing I could of done, it made her feel good, and now she can fully share the experience of riding.
i was wondering,my very soon to be wife wants to learn how to ride but im really paranoid.to me she seems like she couldnt handle a bike.shes very giddy and well jumpy.i have a street bob i bought in january and she wants to ride but if she messes it up i will freak out.now ive considered buying a smaller bike but they all seem too tall.shes is about 5'2"-5'3".also id hate to spend the money if she didnt like it or just gave up and quit after 1 try.ive tried to ride her on the back of my honda shadow i used to have and she said her back hurt soo bad without a sissy bar she was in tears.do yall think she really wants to ride or is this just a fantasy thought she is having?
Go for it! Ride safe!
My husband of 38 years has ridden all his life. When I was 22 he bought a street Honda. I rode with him, and he decided to teach me to drive it. We were in an empty grocery store parking lot. He went through the controls with me, I started it up, and promptly did a wheely across the lot, with him running after me and yelling to let off the gas (which I couldn't do since I was holding on for dear life, and that, of course, made it go faster!) I didn't wreck it, but that was the end of the lessons for me.
He started racing motocross, hair scrambles, etc, etc. I would watch him race every weekend for years. I bought a Penton (dirt bike) and managed to twist my knee riding it, so that stopped that. About nine years ago he bought his first Harley, a Wide Glide. I rode a couple of times with him. He sold it in 2001 to help pay our daughter's college tuition (Notre Dame). Then last year he bought a Harley Road King. He rode it to Sturgis last summer, and had a great time! He brought back wonderful pictures and stories, it looked like an awesome week! Two weeks later he traded the King in on an Ultra.
Since he bought the Road King, we've talked and joked about me getting a bike. It sounded like fun, but I wasn't really inclined to do it. Although I was leaning more and more toward doing it, I just kept denying it. Then, in January I was talking with an aquaintance about my husband's bike, and her resonse was "you need to go to the opera!" Well, that was the last straw! (I prefer Toby Keith). In February I bought a brand new Street Glide. (Yeah I started with the big one!) I'm 5'7", so it fits me perfectly. It's in winter storage at the dealership now. I'll be taking the Riders Edge course at the dealership in April, and then I'll be bringing it home! I'm so excited about it! Wish me luck.
I'm 58 years old, and will be retiring this summer. We'll be going to Sturgis in August, although he'll take his bike, and I'll take the camper. I'm just not so sure I'll be ready for such a long trip on the bike. Maybe next year! Is it mid-life crisis? I believe I'm past that already..but who knows?
Buying the bike was her idea, in fact, she surprised me when she did it. One point I would like to bring out. The knee twisting incident happened when we were at a motocross race. I was practicing starts and a friend of mine told me I had better get over to the parking area because my wife had fallen and hurt her knee. I asked her what happened. She said "I hit that hole and fell." My friend told me she was spinning donuts in the dirt and stuck her foot in the hole and twisted her knee. Now, I know she wouldn't lie, but she might leave out some of the details!
