Fast forward to 87, got my license back ( long story) and was asked if I still wanted my MC license (this was TOUGH) I said no, no need for it now! SO I LIED....... Still rode with the bad boys ....... [sm=oopssign.gif] .... and enjoyed the rides but not the company.
When I met my sweety we found we had lots in common ..... Harleys being one of them! So he bought his bike first .... the sporty!! Then he decided on the Heritage ..... which left me the sporty ...... I didn't like it and I knew from experience I'd want bigger..... sold the sporty FINALLY .... I got my Dyna in January of last year! I just wish my friend Steve were still here to gloat and say "See, I told you so!!!" (Just one of my old biker friends that was a real positive influence when it came to me riding a BIGGER bike ....... When I rode years ago he convinced me to take my ex's bike for a ride ... he'd ride along on his bike to be sure I was ok .... the ex was working so I parked my 400 and grabbed his bike, Steve mounted his and waited for me to get used to the weight difference and then took me to the freeway ............ God I miss that man!!) Great teacher, great morale booster! The desire to have another bike and it be a Harley has never been lost!! Anyway, with some side tracking ... thats my story!

For years I couldn't even fit on a bike

In Aug 03 I had Gastric Bypass surgery and I have lost 185lbs......I told my husband that I WAS getting a Harley when I reached my goal...he was cool with that.
Sept 25th 05- I bought my Sporty and all hell broke loose!
Now: husband hates the fact that I ride a Harley, says he liked me better when I was fat!

We are now in the mist of divorce, I am going through a mid-life crisis, life is too damn short...blah blah blah......
My boyfriend/ best friend/ biggest supporter for many years has a 94 DWG and we ride off into the sunset alot together........
For the first time in my life I am at peace with myself.......
I was born to ride!

My wife, while she's more interested in being a passenger these days, was the one who actually got me into Harley's. I was never really into bikes before I moved to Phoenix. When I met my wife, she was a Harley fanatic; on bikes when she was little, had a big ol' Harley sticker in the rear window of her F-150, etc! I rode a Seca II in college, and liked sport bikes more, but never really got into it (my mom was an ER nurse, so I was never allowed to even think about a motorized vehicle like that!). It wasn't until I saw her best friend's brothers Fat Boy that I got hooked! So we saved up and bought a Buell Blast, then bought a 2nd one a few months later so we could both ride. We ended up trading them in the following year for a Lowrider (03), and she rode that, until I put forward controls on. She lost interest in riding for the most part, except as a passenger, especially when I got my EG. Who knows though, she might change her mind again after she completes her weight loss!

Wife isn't big on the internet so I'll tell her story.
Not that their is a story here yet.

I am getting my Harley in early April. I am buying a Honda for the wife next week.
I have us both signed up for BRC in early May.
I figured I would buy her the bike and its their for her - If she wants to ride it Great!
I figured with no pressure she will hop on it once in a while.
We will look for a Harley for her when she feels she is ready or the first day I come home to find her gone on the bike by herself.

My hubby has always been "into" motorcycles since he was a kid. Mostly dirt bikes until he was old enough to get a street bike. The first time I met him, as a matter of fact, he drove up on an old Ducatti. We were 17 when we started dating and married by 18 yrs old. Of course in those days, we couldn't afford one so he went without. Later, he bought and sold a few here and there and I was quite happy as a passenger when we had one. I had never really aspired to have one of my own, it really didn't interest me, but when our 2nd child (our son) was 2yrs old, hubby bought me a used 250 Yamaha as a mothers day gift. He taught me how to ride it, and I could tool around town with him on his 750 Honda. I was more scared of it than had fun doing it, I must admit, but I stuck it out. As time went on we sold and bought small bikes over the years. Our history has been sparkled with em. Hubby loved 'em. But finances and practicallity just wouldn't allow us to keep them for any length of time.
Over the years, every trip we made to our neighbouring city, we always made a special effort to go and visit the Harley dealership there. Hubby would google over the bikes because that was his ultimate dream. We just could never justify spending the money on a Harley because we needed so many other practical things...like food, for instance. But anyways...that was until the year 2000.
After one too many visits to this dealership and listening to him "hype" about Harley's I finally said to him..." Go ahead...just buy one already!". We will find a way to finance it and we'll deal with it. Well...that floored him, I can tell you THAT for free! ...not to mention the salesman standing their looking at me as if I had 2 heads. They couldn't believe that a wife would be the one to say GO FOR IT! Sooo anyways, the dealership just happen to have 2 bikes there that he liked. A Heritage softtail and a Fatboy, AND in a colour scheme that we both liked. All he needed to do was to decide on one. After some serious thought, he finally decided on the Heritage. They loaded it up in the back of our truck and we were on our way home within 1/2 an hour. In our excitement we were chatting back and forth about this new purchase, I looked across at him and saw tears streaming down his face. He was completely moved to tears. There it was...right in front of me...something that not everybody has had the opportunity to see...This man has just realized a dream! A dream come true.
Well, of course we both enjoyed that bike immensely. We took a trip to Arizona together and he took numberous trips with other friends and some on his own. He certainly was getting his money's worth. He tried to get me to drive it, but this just didn't interest me much. You see, a number of years before this, I did try driving a big bike but ended up crashing it. Just about killed both he and I (he as my passenger). So, after that, driving a bike was really not on my list of favourite things to do. I was quite content to be a passenger.
Well now..having said that...listen to this. Over the course of the next 2 yrs, he had pestered me to drive it. I balked, at first but was softening somewhat. He decided to buy me a smaller bike to get back into driving. So he bought me a 750 Honda. I was soooo nervous at first, and he would patiently wait for me to get use to it. After a few days of driving around a vacant parking lot, he (on his bike) took me out on the hwy one evening (when the traffic was minimal). I liked it. Whooo Hooo, It was all coming back to me!
After that point, when we visited our dealership, I would then look at bikes I thought "I" would like. Actually even picked one out...it was a mint green with navy blue tear drop paint job. OHHHH she was pretty. But, because of financial commitments, I never thought it would ever happen for me. It was not a
