Default Fuel milage

Sorry if this post is in wrong spot , still trying finding my way around the forums.
Installed a sert 32107-01L ,a ness bigsucker and rinehart true duals on a 08 Electra Glide.
Took my tuner about an hour to install on the dyno. Seemed a little quick to me after what I have read here but who am I to tell him his job. ( this shop here is highly recommended even by the local harley dealers for tunes. ) btw what a change in the response of the bike and the way it performs.
Problem :
I was told I would get much better mileage than the 36 - 37mpg I was getting.
Well I now get 38 - 38.5mpg . I am 6' 2 280 not a small boy.
Is this acceptable mileage for my bike or should I take it back to my tuner.
I do not run the bike hard , and run premium fuel. Freeway riding no mountains.
What do you guys think ?
If I have left any info out let me know.
Thanks in advance !!!

With strickly freeway riding, you should expect at least the mid 40s. I average 40 mpg with a mixture of in town and secondary highways. That's with the 103" engine.

Frankly, that sounds normal for a 96" engine with stock cams. To improve mpg any, I'd think you'd have to go to a cam set that would place the power peak more in the lower and mid-range.

Default fuel mileage

Thanks for the reply, you are the only one that has said normal for my bike. I just don't know.
Sent a note to Doc 1 to see what he thinks. You might have a good point .

I'm with you on this one also.Had my 05 EGC dynoed yesterday and got 35 mpg on the way home.I was told I shough get mid 40's by dyno tech.I filled up before I left the dealer and rode 70 miles home and filled up again. It took 2 gal's,thats 35 mpg.I have PC III, V&H true duals,V&H basic slipons,SE a/c and stage 1 down load.
Not trying to high jack your thread, just as confused as you are.

I live in Southern California in San Bernardino County right next to Los Angeles County and I think that the gas we get in this area has more additives to fight pollution, but brings down the MPG. I have just over 5000 miles on my 08 Ultra Classic and around town and freeway I get 37 MPG or less.

I went on a trip to Mammoth a few weeks ago and on the road up and back (600 miles) and riding mountain roads for over 700 miles I averaged 44 MPG with 47 being the best on one tank I checked. I was fully loaded with camping gear also up & back.

My guess is that the fuel outside of the large cities has less additives that cause MPG loss. Back in town again and I am back to 37 MPG. I don't know what else would cause a 19% increase in mileage.

+1 on the normal. I have basically the same setup as the OP. I get 35 around town, 37-38 on the freeway. You are right there. Just enjoy it and don't sweat a couple of miles a tank.
