Hurricane Ike is approaching the Corpus Christi area and I am faced with a real dilemma.
I have certain items that I have to pack in the SUV before I get the hell out of Dodge. Unfortunately, I am going to have to leave my bike behind. Oh I know that it insured against flood, theft, etc., but it would break my heart to come back and see my Sporty trashed from the weather.
My bike is a 2008 Sportster 1200R, my first bike, and I have really gotten addicted to riding in the short time I have had it. I just wish that I could find someone to drive the car, and I would follow along on the bike. Then I wouldn't be fretting about it the whole time I am away from home.
Please, everyone, pray that this storm just dies out in the Gulf of Mexico.
You should be alright..the eye is heading for Brownsville..now, if your in Brownsville!!!!!!Is there anyway that you can raise it off the ground about 5 feet??
If there are any elevated parking garages in Corpus Christi or nearby, put it on the highest floor above ground level and out of the wind. Don't leave it in your garage at sea level.
Agree with the rent a trailer route. That would be what I'd do. Do you have any friends down that way with a bike who might have a trailer that they could trailer it for you if their leaving also?
Just thought of another idea. What about renting one of those storage spaces and putting the bike in there?
Good luck to you and the rest of us in Texas this looks like it could get messy.

Sorry to hear you have to leave the bike. I would trailer it out or find someone to drive my other vehicle and ride it out of there. The parking garage suggestions would be good if they are secure and you can lock the bike to a post or something. I do wish you the best and hope that Ike takes a different path.
