Does anyone know why this won't fit California models ? Could it be made to fit and what would need to be done?
Harley-Davidson® Air Cleaner Cover
A classic look backed with superior quality, this brilliant chrome air cleaner cover features a black paint-filled "Harley-Davidson®" logo. Chrome-plated stainless steel mounting screw included. Screamin' Eagle® High Flow Air Cleaner Kits require the separate purchase of Air Cleaner Adapter Kit P/N 29769-01.
29754-01
Fits '02-later Touring models, '04-'07 EFI Dyna®, and '01-later Softail® models (except California and '08-later FLSTSB models).
My guess, knowing California, is that the part may physically fit on your bike but won't be emissions legal. Or- that California bikes have some extra emmission component that this air cleaner has no provision for. Just my guess....
If you've changed the air filter unit to a K&N or Arlen Ness Big Sucker or similar it will fit with no problem. The CA unit has a notch in it that the other state bikes don't get. Thank CARB.
