you wouldn't be saying any of this if you had a good full face helmet like a shoei. You wouldn't call it heavy that's for sure. and it certainly doesn't restrict your vision.

in the full face helmet market, you certainly get what you pay for.

i've never heard of anyone preferring an hjc over a shoei either. I had a hjc 3/4. It was the harley jet 2 helmet. It doesn't even compare to my shoei. but to be fair, it was not sized properly either.

I only ride with a full face. More protection, less road debris. A good full face won't change much

I often ride without a helmet in Illinois (where I live), but have to wear one when I go to Missouri (where I work.) I wear a Vega half-helmet when I have to wear one.

However, just this week, I bought this helmet for colder weather:

This morning it was 51 degrees and I wore this new 3/4 helmet for the first time. It was AWESOME! Kept me much warmer than before and didn't affect my vision at all. Of course, it was much harder to turn my head around to the side to check on my laptop that was strapped to the back or to look for cars when changing lanes, but I only plan to wear this during the cold months anyway.

I wear an HJC full face - keeping the shield up most of the time helps out a lot with the 'closed in' feeling. I'm not a fan of wearing it with the shield down, but it's only down on the highway or in rain/heavy bugs. Once this helmet starts to show its age I plan on trying on a bunch of the higher end lids, Arai, Shoei, etc to see if the difference is noticeable enough to justify an extra $250. For now, it's reasonably comfortable and meets dot/snell reg's.

What a change! Engine pitch and loudness, all sounds different. Engine mechanical noise sounds different. Damn thing is heavy and hard to see out of, mostly peripheral vision. Just got to get used to it but what a change!

I don't like full face for the same reasons. In cooler weather I'll put a clear visor on my 3/4 helmet. It does a good job of blocking the wind and doesn't limit peripheral vision.

I use both ,have a full face and half helmet HD,in the city with heavy traffic i prefer the half,i feel uncomfortable with the full especially when u have to take a quick look over the shoulder when changing lanes. But on long rides in the open riding more than 70mph i like the full face.

LOL!!! In one of my other posts I stated that I saw the pictures of HAs riding in for Papa's funeral. In the pic I saw. most all of them were wearing a 3/4 helmet and more than one was wearing a FF. They ride more than the acverage person, so I assume they know what they're doing... just an observation.
