I sold my E84 FXRP at 88,000 miles. Up until that day, the only problem I had was when a wire broke connecting to the ignition coil.
I was stranded in the middle of Godforsaken, New Mexico for twenty minutes. That bike was sweet.
Tell the anti Harley folks to stick it where the sun don't shine.
Early '84 FXRs were great! I rode my E84 FXRS in for a fresh top end at 100,000 miles
My 2000 Twinkie has 105,000 on it now [8D]
One friend I have put 160,000........in like 3 yrs, been to 48 of the 50 states. He just got a remand motor after like 168,000, they called it a warranty issue and he spent $50.00 for the motor.
NICE!!!! That's where an unlimited mileage warrantee comes in handy!
Properly maintaned, these bikes will run a LONG time. The only thing to really keep an eye on for the Twin Cams are the cam chain tensioners. Someone mentioned 60k...???... NO WAY! I would not go more than 30k w/o replacing them. THey are cheap and if they should wear through the "potential" damage is NOT cheap.
There's a gal we ride with occassionally that has a Sporty with >100,000 on it and she still rides it every day and across the country.
Regardless of which engine you have, take care of it & it will take care of you!

The man I bought my FLSTC from last Sept had 147k on his RK then and he rides everyday, rain or shine. I've got friends that I ride with that have 100k or more on there bikes as well. My bike is an 01' FLSTC and had over 18k on it when I bought it and I'm up to almost 23k this morning as I rode into work. The guy I got my Harley tat from after I bought my bike last year just got rid of his old Ultra that had over 200k on it and bought a used 02' Ultra that already had over 50k on it and he rides everyday as well. I'm not a mech myself but even I know that with smart proper maintenance these things will run as long as you want them to.
