can't wait top get out of here today. 2 and a half days of riding along the shores of lake michigan.
went last year and took 4 days, so this time will be a little moer riding and less stopping. but this trip is for the ride.
need this trip. sad about daughter leaving town. too much other stuff going on. need to just ride.
going with good riding buddy john. steve was going to come along but his bike needed tires and they didn't come in yet. he was the one who was nervous about his bike and expressways. i had taken him out for a ride along the rock river and it worked well. found out part of his problem was front air pressure, so we get that fixed and the rest was fine. too bad his tires aren't here.
anyway, leaving tonight, heading towards green bay and see how far we get. hotel it. then around the top of the lake saturday and down to ludington. just a great 400+ miles. hotel it. sunday take the ferry to wisconsin and have a leasurely ride home. get home, kiss the wife, and then go and have a beer and meal at the establishment where my other daughter is working. nothing better than sitting with the wife, having a brew, being waited on by one of your children, after a good weekend ride.
Good luck, Mark. Know this has been 'on the board' for a while. Too bad 'bout the bud's tires. Double edge sword. Know he was a concern of yours, and that's off the screen, now. But would have been a good run for him, experience wise.
Ride SAFE, update when you return. We are s'posed to have unbelieveably good weather this weekend, so thinking you will, too. Headed your direction from here. Take suntan lotion. AND long johns, that time of the year, ya know.
I am JEALOUS. We did it in a car 3 years ago. Kalamazoo to Ludington, ferry to Wi. then clockwise around the lake after a weekend in Watersmeet back to Kazoo. A lot of folks critisize Mich. but it is a beautiful state especially up north. Enjoy!
Pat
Sounds like a winner! I have a brother-in-law in Michigan and one of these days I am going to get him off his sorry butt and get him on his Fatboy and do ride like that! He is mostly talk!

Did a ride around Lake Superior in '71 with an army buddy, both of us two-up on his new Triumph 650 Bonny. Took nine days. Fabulous trip. Rode from Ft. Hood, TX to Corpus Christie, both of us on his Bonny, then back to Ft. Hood. I drove both ways of the TX trip. They get some RAIN in TX!!
if you get around the Frankfort area and see an old guy riding around on a kawasaki 125 having a blast that's probably my dad. He works at The Smokehouse in Frankfort, stop in for a sandwich and have him tell you stories about his Heritage and mom's Sportster.
