Sure brings back some powerful memories!!! Gives me a lump in my throat seeing those lyrics, but the Lord has blessed me beyond measure! The saddest two words are "if only".

"Pair of boots and a sack of clothes
Free and easy down the road I go

I could make a million or wind up broke...
Can't take it with me when I go
Free and easy down the road I go"

I can't remember who sings that song, it's a country song, but I love what it says.

Hey, how much can I get for a boyfriend and two kids? A girl and a boy, if any one's interested. Ah, the heck with it, buy the kids and I'll throw Dave in for free.

If you throw me in for free, you will need to find a new rolling vibrator!

I am retired, retired, retired, 3 times worth. Did sell the property last year and live in a motorhome. It is great, sure save a lot of $ doing this and don't have to sit on a lawnmower 4 hrs a week. Leaves a lot of time to ride the bike and play with the grandkids.

I think about it once in a while. Like everything else, it would get old after a while, and you'd start to think maybe you'd like to just stay in one place for a while. I've done both - lived without any solid roots, settled into one place. ... they both have their positives and negatives.

I could tweak at any moment. I've just turned 55 and I'm tired of the routine. My kids are teens, my wife, I love and couldn't live without her, but sometimes, especially since the Deluxe stares at me every day, I just want to ride off and take my sweet time coming back. ...cus, I have to come back and get more cash for gas. But damn it! I'm outta here!

yeah, thats how i ended up in california. sold all my stuff in new york, and took a nice leisurely ride across the country looking for a nice small city to live in. zigzagged across the us, dropping in on friends, checking places out.

prob should have done it a couple of more times, but im happy as is.

I'm retired and have thought about a motor home or toy hauler. When it is just me, bike and trailer I am good for about 4 weeks. I typically tour and don’t spend more than a day or two in any one place. Just into the third week I start to tire of motel rooms and restaurants. I have always enjoyed meeting and talking to people.

I guy I know spends four or five months a year on the road. He has a fifth wheel toy hauler and lives in the front ž while the bike garage is the rear ź. He picks an area of the country to explore then finds a park or campground to stay in. That becomes his base of operations for the next few months. I figure it is $30-$35K for the truck and $70-$90K for the toy hauler. Maybe I’d be good-to-go with this for a few months at a time.
