im getting the fxrg jacket soon and have some questions about it.
1 Whats the highest and lowest temperature you can wear it in?
2 I know it has water resistant leather but would you recommend wearing a rain suit on top anyway? like pvc for protection. I ride in the rain plenty.
3 How does it compare to a heated jacket or a carhartt in extreme conditions?

thx
1. I've worn mine in temps as high as the low 90s, with the vents open and the lining out, of course. It isn't bad when you're moving, but can get a little hot when you're stopped. Coldest was in the low 40s on a trip through the Sierras from Reno to L.A. Even then I didn't have the liner in, and was comfortable with just a T-shirt and a long-sleeve pullover underneath.
2. The leather is water-resistant, not water proof. To me that means I don't worry if it's a little wet out, but in a downpour (caught only once here in California) I put on a rain suit top over the jacket.
3. No experience with heated gear or Carhartt, also no experience below the low 40s. But I can't imagine not being comfortable in any weather with the liner in and one or two layers under that.
Best all-around jacket I've owned in nearly 50 years of riding, in my opinion.
Just remember to lube up the zippers with something. I have the nylon version and sometimes it takes several attempts to get it zipped up to my neck. I hear all HD jackets have the same zipper issues.
I had mine for 5 mo. before the zipper when out,it is under warrenty but was told
it would take 3 mo. to have the zipper replaced.I now see the jackets come with
a different zipper but I would buy a Fox Creek, better jacket and less money.
I have an FXRG. When I layered clothes 25 was the coldest. Now with the heated vest it will probably still be around 25 but with a lot less layers on. (The colder it is higher the probabilty of runnung into ice.) Take the liner out open the vents and I'm ok up to the lower 80's and then it's jeans and t-shirt. I have two rain jackets. One for over the FXRG and a second one for late spring, summer and early fall. On a trip the FXRG always comes with me. One a weekend jaunt I may only take a hooded sweatshirt and the rainsuit (for jackets)
