i live in nc and i am shopping for my first bike leather i am looking at getting a medium/light light leather with vents, am i going to regret getting a zipper/vented jacket in the winter, thanks for any feedback i have used the search function
I never regretted having vents on my last jacket. Got 'em on this one and have used them alot this past couple weeks. Mountains get cold, close 'em up, Get back down to town and it gets warm open the vents. I don't know that I would want a jacket w/o vents. JMO
If you mean for water leaking.
I have never had water come through mine, but its a pretty expensive jacket. HD FXRG midweight leather. I use the vents all the time.
Cold in the morning, hot in the afternoon.
I can agree with the FXRG jacket. I have an older one and use it as my rain gear as well keeps me dry and warm. I live in Florida and even on a hot day I can be comfortable in it ( as long as I'm moving, stopped is another matter entirely).
Yes go with the vents. If it is a quality jacket, when they are closed they are closed. I have an FXRG (expensive) and a Brooks (so-so) and both work fine.
Go to your HD dealer and see if they have any of the 07 "limited edition" jackets left. They come in black or grey. Vents - front and rear, armor at the elbows and shoulders, 2 outside pockets and 2 inside, medium weight, lined, good zippers and good HD graphics on front and rear. These are not in the catalogs or on-line. Yes...they're a little pricey but excellent quality. Plan to be wearing mine for many years to come. .02 Dave
I have the Hein Gericke V Pilot with vents and removeable insulated liner. Best combination I've ever had. Vents definetly make an improved difference in the summer time.
