I have a Sportster an 07 got around 22k on the clock.Recently I did a 4 hr.cruise with no breaks, cept for gas.I've done 3.5 with no rest before, but this one got to me.I have issues with the cervical discs in my neck, and man I was sore for weeks.Shoulder ,arm.So I'm doing P/T now it's slowly getting better. My question is how much more comfort can i expect from a big twin? Money dictates my next ride as a superglide custom. But I'm afraid it won't be that much of a difference. My dream bike is a Deluxe, and I hope to own a bagger before I die.I'm 49 yrs.old, have low type bars on the snortster,I changed them out from reg XL883 bars, for more comfort. What say ye,fellow old farts?
Road king is the best bang for your buck, rides like a dream. Demo one before you buy or rent for the weekend. It's only a few bucks, instead of a payment on something you might not like.
i don't miss my sporty but periodically i miss my FXD. handles like a sporty rides like an FLH. but i'm not giving up my 09 RK. i would like to have an 06 35th Anniversary edition FXD though. I was working in an H-D shop when they first came out in 71.
I have a nightster with mini apes - pulled back, wide mustang solo, old style anti vibration pegs on forward controls, freeway pegs off the crash bars,it is pretty dang comfortable,I'm 165 lbs 5'7" 51 years old.Now if you are talking ultimate comfort that is my 05 eg aka the land yacht. Can't see why folks think a step up from a Sportster is one of the other bikes,to me unless it is a batwing it is no better than a Sportster, just slower.
