I've seen a lot of Nightster bikes for sale lately on Ebay and in the news paper, what's with that?
I'm wondering if they have a lot of problems or what, anyone know
They are sharp looken bikes if you like Sprotster and I do
Um, uncomfortable?....Never ridden before?.....Mid life crisis and got over it?....Got scared on the road?.....Girl friend didn't like it?... Wife thought a new car was more in order?.....Not sure. Might have had a lot of problems with guys buying the bikes 'cause they look cool but had no idea how to ride or couldn't afford all the extra stuff you HAVE to buy.
Yeah, sooner or later, kidneys start protesting the suspension. Like many things, it sometimes takes a little bit of $$$ to make it work just the way you like it to. New springs and shocks. And, like tima said, it's a solo bike at best.
I have a nightster, and have been considering a trade in for a bigger bike. I love the handling, how quick it is in low gears and how agile/ light it is.
However, the money I put into it so far and the money I will have to put into it so that I can go 500+ miles *comfortably* is really adding up. Swapping parts, to find the right thing to find out what I was looking for just comes standard on a bigger bike anyway... it just starts to make sence to just get the bigger bike. Hell, the money I am putting in is basically a bigger bike payment anyway...
I love this bike. I hate the idea of trading it in or selling it. In December (my vacation to Florida) when I am finally near a dealer that rents out so that I can put at least a 200 mile trip on a few different bikes, then maybe I can come back and say if it really is worth giving it up.
If I could afford it, I would have made my Nightster a monster and have an Ultra Classic Electra Glide.
I have a nightster and I knew what I was buying. Now for some others, I think they bought the N thinking they were going to get a comfortable harley...boy were they wrong. The N is raw, just they way I like it.
I have an 05 Sportster Low and like it a lot. I've had three over the years and enjoyed each one. Two of them I did a 1200 conversion, but was never satisfied with the results. If I had it to do over again, I would just buy a 1200 or a Dyna Model.
I have to agree with the comments about buying a Dyna verses a Nightster. The cost of a base model Dyna is so close to the Nightster it makes you want to think twice about buying a new Nightster.
I had a 94 Dyna Wide Glide and really enjoyed riding that bike on the open road. It didn't handle too well one the corners and that's where the Sprotsters really shine. I sold that bike and bought a 2000 Sportster, I should kept it and bought the Sportster for a second bike.
I may have to rethink this idea of buying a Nightster and check into a used Dyna base model.

Yeah, I think it would be cheaper in the long run to make a Dyna look like a Nightster than to make the Nightster ride like a Dyna.
Good point. When I got back into the sport a little over a year ago, I considered the sporty. Cooler heads prevailed and I purchased a Super Glide, and have no regrets. I would have dumped even more money into the sportster than I do now with the dyna.
I'm renting a Heritage Softail for Biketoberfest (not my first choice), so it will be interesting to ride a baby bagger. I hope I hate it...
