Hand wave?

I might as well proffer my opinion on this thoroughly discussed subject.
I don't wave first (with certain rare exception). I don't think it makes me a "bad harley owner" or such. I am just not a particularly social guy.
I always wave back, though, if and only if it is safe to do so. I figure that no one is going to hold me to it and riders would easily understand. I am pretty sure that Saint Peter isn't going to tell me that I failed to wave on such-and-such date, but who knows.
I can say with absolute certainty that it isn't something that I think about on a regular basis. I don't ride to harvest waves.
