I posted a couple of weeks ago asking for advice on where to go for a first weekend get away. Thanks for all the input, we decided to go to Maggie Valley, Nc and man what a trip. The weather was beyond bad on Friday when we where going out. But Sat and Sun it was perfect. We stayed in Dillsboro, Nc. Great little town, you should eat at the Jarrett house if you ever get the opp. Wheels through time was way cool. Kinda sucks they are prob going to move. My wife was very nervous about the trip since she had never rode that far but on the way home she said that it was the best and most fun vacation she had ever been on. Already trying to pick the next place to go. Thanks again for all the input and help.

Awesome! Sounds like a good time and glad the SO came around. Now she'll want to go again!
Being semi-retired, my wife and I take a daytrip every Friday during the summer. Usually about 150 miles each way. If we ride farther, we stay overnight so we can do things rather than just ride through.
Looks like your ride was around 250 miles. You'll be surprised at how many interesting places you can find in that radius from home.
It was a great trip. Wound up being just over 600 miles total. I bet we stopped 100 times just to look at the leaves and such. Here are a few pics. BTW I asked at wheels through time about the move. I was told they are going to close this winter and decide where they are going to go, made it sound pretty sure they are going to move just didnt know where.
My wife at wheels through time
Man it was cold, news said it was 31 when we left the hotel.
Congrats on a GREAT trip! My daughter goes to school at WCU just up the road from Dillsboro, great area. Jarrett House is a good place to eat. Next time try Balsam Mountain Inn between Sylva and Waynesville, unbelievable front porch.
