1 good tire with mounting will run about 200 so you'd be a 1K just in rubber. if you say you will mount your own tire then factor in the cost of a good changer/balancer. If you're that particular you'll be using sythetics so that adds up.

my bike is 2yrs old and has 24,000 miles on it i change the oil every 3 to 4000 miles do it my self with amsoil and i can go for the cost around $60 bucks for that times 4 or 5 times a year for me is $300 bucks there, i usually have to put a rear tire on at the start of the year and middle of the year. Dealer is $268 with little discount so thats another $536 bucks. I have put one front tire on and all brake pads only because my last tire change my buddy helped me and i got brakes and front and rear tire for $320 bucks. so just maintenance your looking at around $600 to 1,000 depending on your riding.
As for the chrome first year add ons for me were well over $3,000 and i have been adding here and there as i go.

As one of the posts mentioned... the $18-20k spent initially is the down payment! Everything else varies widely...you'll say to yourself.."no I'm not buying anything else for the bike"...and a month later you'll find your self looking thru the parts catalog, and either paying msrp at the dealer or placing large orders at Chicago HD or Zanottis... sorry it's a sickness that we all get... but good luck in the purchase.

First thing you are going to have to buy is a manual. Cost about $50(I think). Just did an oil change. Had to buy oil and filter at Harley. Total cost was $66.

I usually average one service a year and some extra bling. Total cost = Free. I use my chrome cash rewards. Usually have some left over so the wife can do some shopping.

I'd guess about $300-$500/yr for maintenance doing my own service. Typical year for me is 10-15k miles.
This doesn't include tools, repairs or upgrades.

Huge difference in prices here. It's also an old post, but someone new will come along.

I follow factory recomendations. You cannot go wrong with that.
1st service at 1K, and at every 5K after that.
I use dino oil, that is diesel rated(MOCO says to use diesel oil if you use dino).
Rear tire was replaced at 12K, and front was replaced at 17K. Believe it or not I use my front brake most of the time.
My back tire purchased and installed was around 150. my front was around the same. I did not use the dealer for tires, but rather an independant shop.

For some stupid reason I always let the dealer do the first service. I do all of he others!
