I've had two flats on road bikes, and it sucks. Now I carry a plug kit and a hand pump. Waiting on a small device that uses co2 cartridges to arrive in the mail. I've been wondering about those large co2 cartridges that you see in the paintball section.
I'm with ya. Just got my first Harley, put 357 miles on it before getting a flat tire. I was right in front of my house (less than 1/2 mile) before it got flat enough for me to notice. Tubed tire. I was able to ride it home and pull the wheel/tire myself and bring it to the shop the next day. They replaced the tube. I ran over a bunch of staples. They pulled 8 of them out of the tire but only one had actually gotten in far enough to puncture the tube. I guess they don't patch tubes anymore. Seemed like a waste to me. Brand new tube with one puncture the size of a staple and they replaced the whole tube. *sigh* I think I should add a can of fix-a-flat to my supplies I carry with me.

Anyone have a recommendation for a good plug kit?
I had a blowout when I was riding spokes. Fix a flat was useless. I since lost the spokes mainly for that reason but still have not picked up a good plug kit.
Make your own kit.....Get one of those 12v air compressors from Walmart, take off the plastic housing and rob the guts out. It will fit in the palm of your and. Get you a 3 buck tire plug kit, put it all in a zippered bank bag and you are all set.
Forget about CO2 air supply kits. First, it takes a handful of those little tanks to fill a flat tire, that is if you don't fool around and bleed one or two off fumbling with the valve stem. Second, they shouldn't be stored in high heat. The inside of a saddle bag is like a dutch oven in the sun. Third, they can't be used like the 12v pump to simply pump up a low tire when on the road.
