header torque?

header torque?

I've been chasing a problem with decel pop and decided to start at the beginning. My HD manual says 100-120 inlbs on the exhaust header studs. That seems a bit low to me. Just wanted to double check

sounds right. all you are doing is crushing the gasket. remember that they are going to be much tighten when brought up to temp as well

Yep 10 foot pounds is what I remember, sometimes I went a hair more. Just make sure the pipe clamps are loose before you torque the manifold bolts, this is so you are seating the flange in the gasket evenly so its not trying to pull the pipe in too if the clamps were tight. Then after torquing the flange, tork the clamps, then the muffler.
