Default tileing a trailer.

A friend of mine wants me to tile his bike trailer [ He is 70 years old ]. Has anyone done this. He wants it black and white checkerd. Any suggestions would help as in want kind of tile, prep work, can it be done when it is cold out, how to trim out the edges, and anything else that would help. Thanks.

The job probley wouldnt be much different than doing a wood floor in a house.
I would suggest buying a DIY book from Lowes or Home Depot.

Sounds like a very slippery floor when wet .

I think I'd paint it black and white before I'd ever tile it ( put a little sand in your floor and porch paint also for extra traction).

Though that black and white checker sounds really great, I wonder if he's thought of how slippery that floor will be when wet, and you know it will get wet. We did the floor of our trailer with a black rubber. Then we did the ramp with something similar to rhino lining. It's black and non slippery. It works really well for us. But that's just our preference. I'm sure he wants what he wants.

you might think about using some of those rubber like
garage floor tiles. they snap together and can take the
weight of a car. you could probably use construction
adhesive to secure them. just a thought.

why can't you just answer the question, instead of giving negative opinions? 1FLTRI4ME is correct,,,,,go to your local tile center, not Lowes or Home Depot and tell them what you want to do. You will need floor underlayment plywood, (3/8"- 1/2" thick) glue and screwed down into your existing 3/4" plywood flooring. Or if the existing flooring is in great shape, disregard the underlayment plywood. All seams will need to be taped with fiberglass tape. You will need to lay down the proper adhesive prior to applying the tape. Then use any commercial grade tile adhesive and lay your tile following all manufactures instructions. Have fun doing it

He has a trike so he will just drive it in the trailer. He won't have to worry about slipping in that sense. It was my idea to do it and he liked it. Now guess who has to do it. But thats ok. He has rode to myrtle beach the last three years in a row. Just getting to old for the ride anymore. He just bought the trailer and a brand new buick enclave [ loaded ] to tow it with. It even has a camera to see while backing up to the trailer.

All my bro-in-law's race car trailers have been tiled in black and white check pattern. If I remember correctly, he just used cheap, self adhesive, vinyl tiles.

It will be up to him either the cheap way or the expensive way. Hopefully he gose the cheap way but he's got money so he will want it done right.

I think to do it right use the adhesive tiles. More flex and give to them. Less weight to the trailer. Tiles would be wrong in that situation
