not enough info.... are you "height challenged"? or have balance issues? weak arms & legs?
the width of the front tire should have NO impact on your riding abilities... unless you're cutting do-nuts in a gravel parking lot......

Make sure you are using the rear brake as you come to a stop. If you are using the front brake at slow speeds and the front wheel is not straight, you will go down or have a mighty struggle to keep the bike up. I usually use the front brake until I have slowed to 10-12 mph, then switch to the rear brake as the main means of stopping.
