The 1200 has plenty of power, but I do like the dyna street glide. I may end up getting one, but i'll keep my 1200R.

The Sportster has a very loyal following. Many Harley riders grew into the ranks on the back of these mighty steeds. Ask the old timers about "sportster Knee", the bike was developed to take on the british invasion in the early sixties. The four cam engine grew into a race bike. Then Eric buell stuffed one in his frame and another legend was born. Today's stock 1200 can hit 70 hp. The big twin was built around touring with two up riding and developed the torque to do this. It all falls back to "what are you looking for?"

I'm 47. Guess I need to sell my 1200R because I'm too old. Damn, just bought it.

I aint saying the Sporty in its current incarnation cudnt power a BT framed scoot , but for the big bikes nothing beats cubic inches and lotsa low end torque ..

Yep the BT used to was a 61 and a 74 as well as 80 , but it's a completely different setup ..

Gump ya have that "alignment" issue too huh

Lil red here is a 12 hunnert too

It's a Super Glide not a Street Glide

The 1200 is obviously not for a touring Glider, and the Dyna class is for those that want the BT on a cycle similar in size to the sporty. But what about the Softail class, would the 1200 be a good option for a Fat Boy, a Heritage or even better for the Rocker? Assuming, of course, that the fit issues could be worked out.

I've got a 2004 XL1200R that I went from Kentucky to the beach cities of California (2,400 miles) on in 3 days with all I needed including my tent. They tour quite well and cost less to get there too. It may not be an UC, RK or RG but it sure is fun.
