Painting bike. Help me think this through
Many before me have agonized over this. Want to paint my bike and have decided on ghost flames. Two ways. One- go with very subtle flames and on a vivid black base. The first pic is almost black on black and the flames are metalic. Second is a pearl flame. Two -less subtle with flames and more color but still on black.
I've taken the bike in a certain direction and it's hard to look at it and to pick out a scheme that comlpliments it. So let me hear your opinions. Good, bad or indifferent

Props to what you have going now. I have not seen a sled like yours and I am a fan of the white theme you have going now. As far as the pics I like the second one with the black and subtle metalic flames you can see. I would take off those tins and paint other ones with the new paint job. Good luck man.

From looking at the pictures the first two are the true ghost flame paint scheme, they both look good, but in my option the first is the real deal. The flames in the second set appear to by too dark to be considered ghost flames. Again in my option if you opt for the second set I would go all out with a flame job with many different colors of flames.

To me, your bike has a very old school look to it. Accordingly, any paint job should reflect that. If you go with a flame job, it should have an old school look to it. Personally, I think an old school pinstriping job is more the ticket. Something like what this guy does;

To me, and ghost flames are what I'm hoping to do with mine, the only real ghost is the sportster tank in the first photo.
IMO, ghost flames shouldn't be seen until examined up close and that first set took me a while to see them.
Good luck and enjoy the final result.
