I am looking to be in Las Vegas around mid Feb. and thinking about renting a bike. Been thinking about getting a RK and thought this might be a good time to try one out.
Anyone have any feedback on Las Vegas rentals, best area to ride, and what kind of riding conditions to expect. Is it even possible to ride in Neveda in Feb? Being from South Texas we ride year round, minus a few foul weather days.
i rented from local harley dealer ship there bikes are nice and run perfect
as for the local weather your guess is as good as mine
hoover dam is beautiful and north west into the desert is way cool
assume a huge temperature change with allitude and night pack everything
i was in a group of almost 50 guys that rented bikes at dealer they all ran well and all delivered on time
I rented from them two years ago they were easy to work with. It was in the summer and was way to hot for me but still fun! I rode to the Hover Dam and Lake Mead the roads were good then.
We were out ther in early December for a convention. We were bored and thought we'd see how hard it was to rent a bike. We ended up at Las Vegas Harley Davidson. They were very good to deal with. We rented three bikes, 2 Ultra Classics and a Road Glide. For one Ultra and insurance it was under 200 bucks for basically 24 hours. A lot cheaper than a day at the casino. They can set you up with a guided ride or you can do like we did.
They gave us a couple different reccomended route maps. We chose the ring of fire route, I think this was the name. We went north of Vegas to the Valley of Fire State park, I think right name, then ate lunch and headed south on a nice ride and ended up at the Hoover Dam. Rode about 200 miles on this route. The weather was clear and 50 to 60 degrees. It was well worth it as back in Kansas we had snow and the Road King was parked for a month, needed a ride bad! Any how if you do it drive safe and have a good time.
Sorry this was so long but I really enjoyed it. Problem is my wife REALLY like the comforts of the Ultra.
We were going to fly out at the end of Jan when temps average around 60 during the day but decided to put it off for warmer and more predictable temps.
We've driven by car to Hoover Dam from Las Vegas. It's about an hour ride over good roads. Lake Meade and the Dam are very worthwhile imo. Valley of Fire and Red Rock Canyon are also w/i an hours ride.
If you're a member of HOG you will receive a substantial discount on rentals and you may even get priority?
Las Vegas Harley is on place to rent them. Check the WEB they may even pick you up at your hotel. I rented from Egale Rider and was please with the bike and the people. Warm during the day and cold at night. If you go up in the higher altitudes you will notice a big change in the temperature the higher you are. Unlike Illinois there are no pot holes to worry about. Going down the strip was a waste of good riding time as the traffic was the pits. Have fun.

My wife and I were in Las Vegas in November. Rented an Ultra Classic from Las Vegas Harley. They were great people to deal with. They have a shuttle service to several hotels on the Strip. We rode through Red Rock Canyon, it was beautiful. We then went south on I-15 to Goodspings to the Pioneer Saloon. Check the place out on the internet, it is really a neat place. Your other rental option is through the H.O.G. Fly and Ride program. I think the rental is about $100.00 per day (two day minimum). You do have to reserve the bike early if you use the Fly and Ride program.
