Tell me why
then we spend thousands more to personalize it.
go figure.
even after saying all that... I have absolutely no complaints - I'd doing what I enjoy doing.... riding and fixing up my bike.
1-education cost wheather one gets it out of a collage,
or off of the street.
2-do me onced shame on them, do me twiced shame on me.

When the EVOs came out, you would put a deposit down, and by the time it came in, maybe up to a year, you had it sold for WAY MORE than you 'paid', which you actually never paid, just the deposit. Dan, a commercial roofer on my mail route back then, bought and sold one or two, every year that way. Made a chitload of cash. But him and the wife, were both riding shovelheads.
He'd even drive down to Iowa, to put money down, cause he could get faster turn around down there.Hate to say it, but with the bleak economy in the WORLD, I believe the price of HDs is where it's gonna be, for a while. Buy for the 'heart', not the pocketbook.
There are EVO baggers, low miles, for less than 7G. Some less than 5. And TONS for less than 10. Go online, buy a 121" Ultima, and for around 10-14 total, you are going 'in style', FAST.
And if you can swing it, drop in a 6 spd at the same time. You'll blow the paint off any TC, even a Screamin' Eagle. For way less than half. Put a li'l 'paint' on it, gots your 'one of a kind' like all seem to strive for. Me included.

The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
for $18,900. In 07 after the wreck I bought a brand new custom colered Jan to Mar
RKC for $18,355 with 12 miles on it so here are my questions
1 - did harley prices drop
2 - in 2000 did Wide Glides cost more than road kings
3 - or did I just get the snot screwed out of me in 2001
1- Yes - prices are subject to market value. there is plenty of "supply" today than was back in 2000. You can thank Harley (and the "other" major bike maunfacturers for that) and the whole hype at the 100th anniversary in 2003. The TV bike shows etc. etc. etc.
2 -not certain but I would say probably not.
3 - I'd have to say yes. but in 2000 you were willing to pay the price so and I mean no offense here - live with your decision. Cars and bikes over time DE preciate. It takes a looooong time before they Appreciate or increase in value.
My advice - don't sweat it. As I said before - in 2000 you loved the FXWG and you were willing to whip out the cash for it. As long as you enjoyed the bike then it was worth the price.
Back in 2001, the first year of the V-Rod, they were selling for $5,000 OVER the MSRP price.
When I bought my 07, I paid UNDER the MSRP price.
Just remember, as long as YOU are happy with your bike, who cares what you paid!
