back in 2001 I bought my first harley, a used 2000 fxdwg with 1200 miles on it
for $18,900. In 07 after the wreck I bought a brand new custom colered Jan to Mar
RKC for $18,355 with 12 miles on it so here are my questions
1 - did harley prices drop
2 - in 2000 did Wide Glides cost more than road kings
3 - or did I just get the snot screwed out of me in 2001

Reason: I'm not sad or mad
I'd have to go with #3, with a little #1 to top it off!
Back in 2001 production still wasn't caught up with demand though, so it was quite feasible to see a used bike selling for more than a new one at times.
In this day and age if you paid more for a used bike, hopefully you at least asked for some lube before you bent over.....

I'd have to go with door # 3.
But don't feel bad. I overpaid for mine too. Won't happen again.
Supply and demand! In 98 to purchase a new FXD I had to pay full msrp plus let the dealer add a bunch of bling (parts and HIGH labor) which came to over two grand extra. If I didn't there were people lined up who would. In may of 08 I bought a new FLHT at 1,700 dollers under msrp.

Yeh, I'd have to go with "Snot Screwed" to but back in the day MSRP was the norm and MSRP Plus was not all that unusual depending on the model.

Experience buyers tend to get better deals. I could have got my used 2006 SG for less if I pushed harder at the time. But I'm happy with the bike and I don't feel they ripped me off either.
