Just FWIW, it isn't just H-D. I bought a '99 Ford Expedition for well over $41,000 new. By 2005 I could buy the same vehicle new for $28,000. Not all, but many vehicles have seen serious price declines the past ten years.

Back in 2001 Harley's were way more envogue with the Wine & Cigar RUBS than they are today and they were buying and gladly paying stupid money. It was more of a fad with them then and the "cool" thing at the time. That has since faded some. Also the production numbers were less than they were in 2007 and 08. Nearly every dealer in the Country, not all, but most were selling new Harleys for $3K-$4K over MSRP and couldn't keep them on the floor. The ones that were selling them for MSRP had around a 1 Year waiting list....ask me how I know....bought a 2000 RKC in 2000.
