I'd start @ 6K and work up...it's going to need tires if they are original 13 yr old tires. Plus who knows what's going to start leaking after you start riding it on a regular basis...all those seals are probably dried up and half rotted by sitting. Asking WAY too much IMO.
I have seen it sitting there the past week not close to the road but in the lot...I swung in today to look at it...I thought it was much newer as I walked up. I asked what year and he said 2000. I figured 08 or 09 but I am not super familiar with them...He then said it only had 600 miles on it...I looked it over and opened the bags...He told me to sit on it and fire it up..Choke out and it fired right up...Ran smooth...He told me to go ahead and take it down the road so I went on about a five mile run..Within a couple miles I pushed in the choke..No hesitation it ran and shifted pretty smooth..Very very clean..
Would definitely do tires and fluids prior to regular ride...I didn't see any dry rot on the tires but no way would trust tires that old...What gaskets may be suspect? I have no issue working on something if need be...
For the record. I don't own an HD and never have (ridden many and been looking) owned one...Money is a bit of an issue so new is out of the question..I am not gonna do tons of miles at this point...But have been looking at RK...
